Moran to defend USA Men’s 10 km title in Atlanta6/30/2011
INDIANAPOLIS – 2010 men’s 10 km champion Ed Moran (Williamsburg, Va.), returns to Atlanta to defend his title as the 42nd running of The AJC Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, Georgia hosts the 2011 USA Men’s 10 km Championships on Monday, July 4. Along with a stellar international field that includes 2009 AJC Peachtree champion Sammy Kitwara of Kenya, Moran will face a strong U.S. contingent led by Scott Bauhs (Mammoth Lakes, Calif.), who finished third in the men’s 10,000 meters last week at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Moran and Bauhs can expect to see challenges for the title from multiple U.S. road racing champions and American Record holders including three-time USA Men’s 10 km champion Abdi Abdirahman(Tucson, Ariz.); half marathon American Record holder Ryan Hall (Big Bear Lake, Calif.); 2011 USA Men’s 8 km champion Bobby Mack (Raleigh, N.C.); 25 km American Record holder Fernando Cabada(Boulder, Colo.); and 2008 USA 15 km and 2010 25 km champion Andrew Carlson (Minneapolis, Minn.). Also joining the field will be current USA Running Circuit leader Aaron Braun (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and 2010 top-five finishers Ian Burrell (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and James Carney (Boulder, Colo.). About the USARC The USA Men’s 10 km Championship is the seventh stop for the men on the 2011 USA Running Circuit (USARC) and features $30,000 in prize money with the champion earning $10,000. The 2011 USARC is a USA Track & Field road series, featuring USA Championships from one mile to the marathon and attracts the best U.S. distance runners.
